This One Simple Fact Can Be Your Life’s Greatest Revelation

Bookmark and Share

This is truly one of those things that, simple as it may seem at first, could have an enormous impact on you.

Listen closely to what Steve Jobs has to say in the video clip below.  Even if you don’t completely buy into it today, hopefully one day you will.  The full realization of just how true this notion is will completely change your outlook on just about everything.  I promise you.

Skip to the video from here if you’d like, but a few of my friends will know all about what I’m about to say here:  It just so happens that I just came across this video clip of Steve Jobs giving some advice and I just about fell out of my chair.  I can’t even begin to convey just how unbelievably perfect and coincidentally timely that this should find it’s way to me on this morning.  I swear I’ve never seen this video before just now and yet it so happens that I’ve been passionately saying the exact same thing, practically word for word, to a number of people over the past couple of days.  As a matter of fact, I spent several hours discussing this intensely with a friend of mine most of Tuesday night.  It’s actually all I’ve been talking about for the past week to just about anyone and everyone – annoying some, I’m sure.

Hey.  I totally understand if this doesn’t immedietly come across as anything new or mindblowing to hear.   The hurdle here is this: despite how simple this truth is, it’s incredibly difficult to whole heartedly become convinced and believe in it.  Trust me.  I know.  But when you do finally get it… it’s pretty freaking cool.

I’d be more than happy to preach on about this to anyone interested, but for now… take it from Steve.  It may be the best advice you’ll ever hear from anyone.  Seriously.

When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.

I like a lot what Jobs is saying here. I do find it ironic thought that Jobs and Apple have created a world that on  the one hand enriches people’s lives, but on the other hand seriously “limits” what you can do in the Apple ecosystem with their devices. I’d love to see the whole interview…now that it has surfaced…
